A bit about James Tuck: James Tucks love for the ocean and the sport of surfing developed at an early age in his home town of Flinders, on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. At age 16 Tuck commenced a surfboard manufacturing apprenticeship with Trigger Brothers Surfboards. It was through this apprenticeship that his passion and knowledge for creating surfboards began. Here Tuck developed his skills for fibre glassing, sanding, polishing, sales and then hand shaping with Paul Trigger. He then moved on to the Victorian surf blank company, `Ocean Foam`. During this time he continued to shape and glass boards for himself and his friends while surfing competitively for the OZMOSIS surf team. Keen to further develop his passion for shaping boards, Tuck took up the opportunity to move to Queensland to improve his skills and learn from the highly experienced shaper Stuart Darcy of Darcy Surfboards. It was working in Darcys factory that Tuck found himself surrounded by some of the worlds best shapers including Simon Anderson, Rodney Dalberg, and Skye & Murry Burton. He then went on to work with other well known shapers including Darren Handley, Maurice Cole & J.S Industries. Now working fulltime under his own label `TUCK SHAPES` his dream continues. Tuck is fulfilling his goal to produce high performance, high quality surfboards, with a wide variety of designs & models to suit everyone from beginners through to professionals in a variety of conditions. TUCK SHAPES are produced using only the highest quality foam and fibre glass materials, combined with the most experienced fibre glassers and machine sanders around, who take utmost pride in their quality of work. After initially using the traditional hand planning method to shape his surfboards, Tuck has also progressed with modern technology, utilising the newest computerised shaping programs/machines and the most advanced glassing materials, methods and artwork when creating his surfboards. Through doing so, Tuck Shapes will consistently produce the highest quality range of surfboards for surfers today, and into the future. Currently James Tuck is enjoying surfing and shaping more than ever. And after 6 years furthering his skills on the Gold Coast he is once again based in the Mornington Peninsula. Along with being a proud Ozmosis shaper, he is dedicated to working closely both in and out of the water, with not only the large number of talented team riders but with the many avid surfers who choose to ride TUCK SHAPES
